What is a Food Waste Disposer?
Fitted easily and discreetly under any sink FWD's effortlessly grind your food waste into tiny particles that are automatically flushed down a standard kitchen drain.
Simply turn on your cold tap, put the food scraps into the FWD's flange that replaces your normal plug hole. Turn on the FWD and at the touch of a button your food waste is gone.
What types of food will they dispose of?
Just about any food waste you can think of. All models will dispose of Fruit, vegetables, chicken bones and fish bones.

Will my drains get blocked?
FWD's grind food into very fine particles which are easily flushed down a standard kitchen drain. In fact so fine are these particles that they are rendered undetectable as a food source for vermin. If your pipe work is long, bendy or complicated it is best to go for a fast model (2600rpm + ) as these grind the food waste the smallest.
Are FWD'S safe?
Safety is not a problem. FWD's use a grind ring and impellors not blades to grind the food. Over 50% of households in the USA have one ( if there was an issue with safety you would have lots of law suits). If you are still concerned about safety you can install a batch feed machine.
What is the difference between Batch Feed and Continuous Feed?
Continuous feed is the most common and convenient to use. Simply run the cold water, switch on the disposer and push the food in continuously until it has all been disposed of.
Batch Feed machines only work when a stopper is in place. This makes it impossible to put your hand into the machine when it is running. It disposes of the food in batches.
Will the Waste Disposer fit my sink?
All FWD's on this web site have technical drawings so you can check sizes. They are all designed to fit sinks no thicker than 24mm with a plug hole 90mm in diametre. If your sink is thicker than 24mm (Buttler sinks ect..) an extending flange is available up to 45mm.
How Easy are they to Install?

How much do they cost to run?
If used on average 3 times a day the cost of electricity is under £1 per year.
Water consumtion is the equivalent to less than one flush of a toilet per day.
How reliable are they?
All our FWD's are supplied with a minimum 2 year, to a lifetime domestic warranty depending on model. Once installed FWD's should give many years of trouble free use.
How noisy are they?
The amount of noise FWD's make, depends on what type of food waste it is grinding. More expensive models have sound insulation. As a general rule, the more you spend, the quieter the machine. |
